After originally opening in 2011, within five years, Westfield had broken industry records delivering £1.1bn in retail sales and over 46m customer annually. Following this success, in 2017, Westfield soon submitted plans to expand to create a new shopping level with space for around 75 new shops and kiosks underneath the existing Marks and Spencer store. The extension, referred to as Phase 2 centre, commenced soon after, in 2018.
As Phase 2 started, a delivery management system was being developed by the contractor for this project but unfortunately, Westfield soon discovered this was running significantly behind schedule. This presented Westfield with a real challenge as they needed an interim DMS solution set up and running at short notice.
The management company were aware that a DMS had been used during construction of recent building on the site and so the management company decided to contact the development arm of Westfield who immediately recommended the DMS they had used -Zone Manager. They quickly put Philip Jones from the Westfield management company in touch with Zone Manager who were able to demonstrate how quickly and easily Zone Manager could be set up configured to function as a retail centre delivery management system.
Within a week Zone Manager delivery management system for Westfield Stratford City Phase 2 was up and running. It ran for 24 weeks and at peak it was handling over 700 bookings per week/ 100 per day.
